Blackanthem.com, RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany, August 19, 2005
Four members of Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe were presented with
Airmen Committed to Excellence coins here at a recent Safety Call.
Senior Master Sgt. David White, security forces programs and acquisitions
manager, Maj. Anissa Bowers, chief of the budget integration branch, Mark
Weltz, Intelligence resource advisor and Maj. Clinton Mixon, chief of
F-15E weapons and tactics programs for Operations, were presented the ACE
coins by Gen. Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong, USAFE commander, Aug. 8.
ACE awards recognize USAFE Airmen for their commitment to excellence and
dedication to the Air Force mission.
Sergeant White ensured proper fiscal management of command air base
defense, base physical security systems and AT/FP programs valued in
excess of $52 million. By challenging an erroneous vendor bill, he saved
the Air Force $18,000.
Major Bowers wrote the sourcing plan for a $100 million budget bill that
minimized impact to USAFE flying operations and orchestrated funding to
support Eagle Flag.
Mr. Weltz managed an $18.8 million intelligence budget and was responsible
for standing up a U-2 ground station four years early with no funding.
Major Mixon resurrected "Excalibur," a multinational bombing competition,
increasing European joint fighter training, and managed USAFE’s $2.6
billion training munitions and $11 million range account.
The ACE award consists of a numbered medallion the size of a Texan belt
buckle and is engraved with the recipient’s name. There have been 53 coins
presented since its inception in October 2003.
