Coalition Special Police Advisor to be honored
for valor

The Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq will host an award
ceremony on Wednesday, August 24 in the International Zone to bestow the
Distinguished Service Cross to U.S. Army Colonel James H. Coffman.
Gen. George Casey, Commander Multi-National Forces-Iraq, and Maj. Gen.
Adnan Thebit, Commander Ministry of Interior Special Police Forces, will
honor Col. Coffman for exceptional valor during combat operations in Mosul,
Iraq on November 14, 2004 while serving as an advisor to the MOI Special
Police Commandos.
The Distinguished Service Cross is the United States Army’s second highest
award for valor in combat and will be presented to Col. Coffman for his
actions while fighting to relieve the Commando defenders of the 4-West
Police station against heavy insurgent attack last November. This the
first time the medal has been awarded in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
