Bomb drop eliminates IED staging area

In an effort to decrease terrorist activity in the area, Coalition Forces destroyed a slaughterhouse on Oct. 19. The building had been used as a staging area to run command wire to emplaced improvised explosive devices and as an observation post to detonate the roadside bombs on combat patrols. Coalition Forces and soldiers of Company 2, 2nd Iraqi Army Battalion patrolled the area in the weeks and days before Oct. 19 to warn citizens about the building’s demise. The destruction of the building occurred without any injury, or damage to the people of Muqdadiyah, or any surrounding structures. The local sheik supported the joint operation.
