ALBANY, NY - New York Army National Guard Pvt. 1st Class Corey Hines, a member of the 7th Finance Detachment, joins Brig. Gen. Michael Swezey, the commander of the 53rd Troop Command, in cutting the Army Birthday Cake at the New York State Museum on Monday, June 14.

The New York State Museum, the oldest and largest state museum in the nation, is hosting an exhibit titled "Citizen Soldier: The New York Army National Guard in the American Century" through March. The M-8 Armored Car shown is a centerpiece of the exhibit.

As the youngest Soldier present, Hines joined Swezey in cutting the cake, and then led the 30 Soldiers present, from the New York Army National Guard, the Army Reserve, the Siena College Army ROTC Battalion, and the Albany Recruiting Recruiting Battalion in the Soldiers Creed.

The United States Army was born 235 years ago when George Washington took command of New England militia forces besieging the British Army in side Boston on behalf of the Continental Congress.
