DULLES, VA - Sixty wounded soldiers from the Warrior Transition Battalion recovering at Fort Gordon recently enjoyed a Troop Appreciation Dinner at the Bonefish Grill in Augusta, Georgia.   Sponsored by Freedom Alliance, the dinner was held to honor the troops for their service and sacrifice.

"These Troop Appreciation Dinners afford our hard working military the chance to enjoy time with their friends in a relaxing atmosphere," stated Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilgannon.   "Many of the recovering wounded at Fort Gordon are not able to have their families near, many haven't seen them in months.   To not have your family near when you're recovering from wounds sustained in battle is extremely strenuous.   Having these dinners gives our brave service members an opportunity to have a pleasant evening in an otherwise difficult situation."

Freedom Alliance regularly hosts "Troop Appreciation Dinners" for military personnel around the country to honor them and thank them for their service and sacrifice for our country.   Last year, Freedom Alliance sponsored more than 100 Troop Appreciation Events, Dinners and Support Activities.   These events were held for wounded service members recovering in Warrior Transition Units, those returning home from overseas duty and those stationed throughout the United States.

After the event, an appreciative soldier, SPC Bernetta stated, "I had a blessed time.   I never thought that I would be able to relax, but I did!"   Another attendee, SSG Carlotta remarked that "Freedom Alliance has been a great support to our wounded warriors here at Fort Gordon."

In addition to hosting Troop Appreciation Dinners, Freedom Alliance distributes "Gifts from Home" care packages to military personnel deployed overseas and provides scholarships to children of military heroes, among other programs.   For more information please visit www.FreedomAlliance.org.
