FORT HOOD, Texas - A 120th Infantry Brigade battalion commander and his wife received prestigious awards and recognition before a change of command ceremony Aug. 2.

Lt. Col. Adrian Bogart, outgoing commander of 2nd Battalion, 393rd Infantry Regiment, received the Meritorious Service Medal. His wife, Susan Bogart, received the Outstanding Civilian Service Award and the Yellow Rose of Texas Award.

Susan was awarded the Yellow Rose of Texas from Texas Governor Rick Perry for her continuous support to the military over the two years of her husband's command. The OCSA recognized that Susan volunteered more than 6,500 hours of service to the Family members of the unit and the Army.

"It was a great shock, and I was so pleased to receive it. It's a great honor," Susan said. "It is important to help Family members in the military, helping to alleviate their fears. When your husband is deployed, you are alone, even when you are on post, and I think my offers of support were well-received."

During Adrian's tenure as commander of 2nd Bn., 393rd Inf. Regt., he and his Soldiers trained more than 7,600 Soldiers and 43 Army National Guard, Army Reserve and active-duty units for deployment, he said.
