BAGHDAD, Iraq - Terrorists launched eleven indirect fire attacks against civilians, Iraqi Security and Coalition forces in Baghdad March 27.

Five IDF attacks struck in the vicinity of the International Zone, killing one civilian and wounding 14.

Three IDF attacks struck two U.S. forward operating bases and one joint security station east of the Tigris River injuring four U.S. Soldiers.

And, five mortar rounds struck two joint security stations and an Abna al-Iraq, or Sons of Iraq, check point in West Rashid wounding three SOI.

"These rogue elements are haphazardly firing rockets and mortars killing and injuring innocent Iraqi and governmental civilians," said Col. Allen Batschelet, chief of staff, MND-B. "ISF and Coalition Forces are taking steps to reduce these attacks and pursue those responsible."

MND-B Soldiers engaged and killed two terrorists spotting for the IDF attacks. Then, the Soldiers were attacked by rockets and small arms fire. There were no U.S. casualties.

At approximately1:20 p.m., a CF patrol was struck by an improvised explosive device in the eastern Bagdad district of New Baghdad. The attack wounded three U.S. Soldiers. The Soldiers were evacuated to a Coalition hospital.

Despite recent activities, Coalition forces are conducting routine operations. Contrary to some reports, Coalition forces are not shutting off utilities to Sadr City.

"We believe rogue elements are responsible for the activity that we have seen over the past several days," said Batschelet. "Most Iraqi civilians want peace and stability. These few are trying to discredit the Government of Iraq and Iraqi Security Forces. Our response will be measured, targeted and precise. We will target those criminals responsible for bringing pain and suffering to the Iraqi people."
