BAGHDAD, Iraq - In an operation that turned suspected terrorists against each other, Coalition forces captured two alleged al-Qaeda in Iraq leaders in Baghdad while other operations around the country netted 10 additional suspects Sunday and Monday.

An associate of a suspected AQI senior leader in Baghdad Monday led Coalition forces to the wanted man, who is believed to be a leader in the Adhamiya neighborhood. The man was reportedly planning a car bombing, and the network is known to attack Iraqi civilians.

After the suspected terrorist was detained, he turned on his comrades helping Coalition forces track down an associate of another alleged AQI senior leader. Once detained, the associate then turned in the second suspected leader, who is assessed to be a leader in AQI's car-bombing network in the Rusafa neighborhood, which has attacked Iraqis and the security forces that protect them.

A suspected foreign terrorist facilitator is in Coalition custody after another operation in Baghdad on Monday. The man is assessed to have ties to several previously captured suspects and known terrorists who plan suicide bombings targeting Iraqi civilians.

Coalition forces detained seven suspected terrorists during an operation in Baghdad Monday targeting a longtime AQI leader who oversees terrorist operations, including attacks on civilians, in the Northern Belt around the city.

Sunday, Coalition forces in Bayji, about 160 kilometers south of Mosul, captured a man allegedly involved in both bombing and foreign terrorist facilitation operations. The man has reportedly provided falsified documents to AQI terrorists so they can move in and out of Iraq. One additional suspect was detained.
