Blackanthem Military News BAGHDAD, Iraq - Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers seized weapons caches in Baghdad July 12.
Sons of Iraq notified U.S. Soldiers of a cache and detained two local nationals in East Rashid at 1 p.m. July 12. Soldiers with the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division investigated and confiscated one rocket propelled grenade launcher, homemade explosives, improvised explosive device-making materials and a cell phone.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div. Soldiers found a 10-inch explosively formed projectile in an abandoned house in West Rashid.
"The Sons of Iraq have been very successful in maintaining security in their area," said Maj. Dave Olson, spokesperson, 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B. "They have been instrumental in defeating Al-Qaeda in Iraq. We work closely with the SoI to assist them in their ongoing efforts to bring peace to their communities."
