BAGHDAD, Iraq - United States Forces-Iraq has been conducting one of the largest scale reduction of forces operations in history while simultaneously continuing to conduct partnered operations with Iraqi Security Forces. This Responsible Drawdown of Forces, which began shortly after the signing of the Security Agreement between the United States and the Government of Iraq in late 2008, is akin to moving a medium sized city, people and equipment, without interrupting normal daily functions.  It continues to be a successful ongoing effort of moving large numbers of personnel, transporting or transferring thousands of pieces of equipment, and closing or transferring hundreds of military bases.

As a result of the increased capability of the Iraqi Security Forces, the security conditions in Iraq have improved and enabled the reduction of U.S. Forces.  The attached Fact Sheets attest to the enormous and incredibly complex task of USF-I's ongoing responsible drawdown.
