Multi-National Corps IraqBAQUBA, Iraq - Coalition forces discovered six more bodies at a mass grave north of Muqdadiyah Iraq, April 6.

All the bodies showed signs of torture.

Previously, nine bodies were discovered near the same location April 2.

Multi-National Division - North Soldiers from 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment turned the bodies over to the Iraqi Police.

This is the third mass grave discovered in the area in the past 11 days. On March 27, a mass grave was discovered containing 37 bodies. Two days later, another mass grave was found containing 14 bodies.

Many of the victims showed signs of being bound and tortured. All the bodies appear to have been buried for between two to six months.

"The discovery of these mass graves shows the importance of the work we are doing in the area," said Maj. Mike Garcia, MND-N spokesman. "This northern Diyala river valley used to be a stronghold for al-Qaeda in Iraq. Since January, we have been working closely with our partners in the Iraqi Security Forces and Sons of Iraq to ensure that AQI will never again terrorize the local population of this area."
