
Iraqi Special Operations Forces target Al-Qaeda network; key leaders detained

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi Special Operation Forces captured two wanted men and detained a third suspected terrorist during operations July 28 to disrupt al-Qaeda networks in the Diyala River Valley .
Based on intelligence, ISOF targeted an individual associated with an al-Qaeda network. During the operation in southwest Diyala province, ISOF captured the man who identified himself as the wanted individual. A second individual on site was identified as a person of interest and taken into custody.
In another precision operation nearby, ISOF apprehended a wanted man without incident. The operations yielded two AK-47s, one AK-47 magazine, one pistol, and various documents, including false identity papers.
