BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi Police arrested seven suspected terrorists today during three security operations in northern Iraq.

Near Al Wajihijah, located approximately 75 km northeast of Baghdad, Iraqi Police, with U.S. advisors, arrested two suspects during a security operation targeting a suspected terrorist who is associated with key members of al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Islamic State of Iraq. While searching two buildings for the individual, the security team arrested two suspects based on incriminating evidence found at the scene.

In a separate security operation near Bayji, located approximately 92 km southwest of Kirkuk, Iraqi Police and U.S. advisors searched a building for an active member of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device network who is suspected of operating in the Salah ad-Din and Kirkuk Provinces. The security team questioned and arrested two suspicious individuals, who were determined to be a threat to the local community.

Near Hawijah, located approximately 35 km southwest of Kirkuk, the 3rd Emergency Response Unit, with U.S. advisors, searched two buildings for a Kirkuk VBIED-network member. The security team questioned and arrested three individuals suspected of participating in criminal activity.
