BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi Security Forces arrested five suspected terrorists today during three security operations conducted in northern Iraq.

Near Bahiyah, located approximately 103 km northeast of Baghdad, Iraqi Police, with U.S. advisors, arrested one individual during a security operation targeting a suspected terrorist closely tied to key members of al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Islamic State of Iraq. After searching a building, the security team arrested one suspect based on incriminating evidence found at the scene.

In a separate security operation in southern Kirkuk, the 3rd Emergency Services Unit, with U.S. advisors, searched two buildings for a Kirkuk VBIED-network member. The security team questioned two suspects who were determined to be associated with criminal activity. Iraqi Police arrested the suspects without incident.

In Muhallabiyah, located approximately 39 km southwest of Mosul, Iraqi Police arrested two suspects while searching for an al-Qaeda in Iraq member, who is a suspected courier of information to senior leaders of the terrorist group. Both suspects were arrested when evidence found at the scene linked the two with criminal activity.
