BALAD, Iraq - 11th Division Iraqi Army Soldiers captured a Special Groups cell leader, who is responsible for coordinating IED and rocket attacks against Iraqi Security and Coalition forces, in Husayniyah, approximately 20 miles north of Baghdad, May 16.
The Iraqi Army conducted the operation to capture the Special Groups cell leader, in addition to detaining four other suspected Special Groups criminals.
"The capture of this cell leader will likely affect the ability of Special Groups criminals in Husayniyah to conduct attacks against Iraqi Security and Coalition forces," said Col. Bill Buckner, MNC-I spokesman. "This will prevent Special Groups leadership from exploiting the city as a safe haven."
