Blackanthem Military News BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi Security Forces arrested one vehicle-borne improvised explosive device cell member and five other suspected terrorists today during a series of security operations conducted in the central and northern regions of Iraq.
In eastern Ramadi, Iraqi Army soldiers with U.S. force advisors arrested two suspects while conducting a warranted search for a known VBIED cell member. The two individuals were arrested without incident.
Iraqi Army soldiers arrested the warranted individual, and identified the second suspect as an al-Qaeda in Iraq associate, who participates in assassinations and attacks against Iraqi Security Forces and civilians.
During a second operation, Iraqi police with U.S. force advisors searched two buildings in Baqubah for a warranted individual known to facilitate suicide bomb attacks in Diyala Province. Iraqi police apprehended one suspect who attempted to flee from security forces during the operation. Police questioned the suspect, who was determined to be an accomplice to criminal and terrorist activity.
Three suspects associated with the Kirkuk VBIED network were arrested in Rashad Valley during an operation conducted by the 3rd Emergency Services Unit with U.S. force advisors. These suspects are responsible for training others how to manufacture and employ VBIEDs in Kirkuk.
