Multi-National Force IraqSALAH AD DIN, Iraq - Two improvised explosive devices detonated in the city of Tuz, located approximately 50 miles south of Kirkuk, at approximately 12:30 p.m. April 8.

The first attack occurred inside a mobile phone shop in a marketplace wounding 17 Iraqi citizens. The second attack was near a high school, and resulted in no injuries.

Thirteen of the wounded were transported to a local hospital, and four others were evacuated to a hospital in Kirkuk.

Local emergency services and Iraqi Security Forces quickly arrived and provided aid to the injured and began to investigate the scene. Coalition forces arrived later, rendering assistance.

"This is another example of the terrorist's disregard for the lives of innocent Iraqi citizens, and shows the levels at which they will go to deny the people of Iraq the peace and prosperity they deserve," said Col. David Paschal, commander, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.
