
IA, MND-B Soldiers discover weapons caches in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers uncovered weapons caches in Baghdad June 30.
Soldiers with the 3rd Brigade, 1st Iraq Army Division serving with Soldiers form the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, found five explosively formed projectiles, 32 mortar rounds, 17 rocket propelled grenades, three RPG launchers, an AT-4, a hand grenade, two night vision goggles, eight 120 mm mortars, three RPG chargers, five radios, PKC ammo, several 60 mm fuses, detonation wire, an identification card, more than 40 fake ID cards and numerous pamphlets at approximately 7:25 a.m. in the New Baghdad area of eastern Baghdad.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, seized a weapons cache consisting of a complete 60 mm mortar firing system, two hand grenades; 31, 60 mm mortar rounds; two RPG launchers, six RPG rounds, two rifles, five magazines, two cell phones, two radios, a PKC; more than 400, 7.62mm rounds; two handcuffs, a knife, eight RPG boosters, 7.62mm links; 25, .45 caliber rounds; and a Glock magazine in the West Rashid area of Baghdad.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., Soldiers with the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., seized two bricks of C-4 in the East Rashid area of Baghdad.
"Since May 20, MND-B Soldiers and their Iraqi Security Force partners have seized 360 weapons and munitions caches throughout Baghdad," said Lt. Col. Steve Stover, spokesman, MND-B and 4th Infantry Division. "By seizing over 550 improvised explosive devices and EFPs, more than 2,300 rockets, mortars and artillery rounds and 4,200 rifles, together we are having a positive impact on the lives of the Iraqi People."
