AN NUMNIYAH, Iraq - On Sept. 26, 16 junior officers from the 3rd, 4th, 7th 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th, and 17th Iraqi Army Divisions graduated from the Military Police Officer Basic Course here.

Military Police training commenced Aug. 8 and included both classroom and practical field exercises. The soldiers were also required to pass a cumulative practical exercise and written exam. The officer's course emphasized leadership and training on small unit tactics and weapon systems.

The culminating event for this course was a weeklong practical exercise conducted at the Military Operations in Urban Terrain training site. This military training base has one of the largest MOUT training sites in Iraq. The training conducted at the MOUT site consisted of the many aspects of convoy operations.

The MP Commander, Iraqi Lt. Col. Muqaddam Bashar Hatman, served as the guest speaker during the graduation ceremony. Bashar Hatman briefly addressed the class and reminded them of their responsibilities as leaders. He emphasized the leadership qualities required to take the Iraqi Army into the future. These soldiers will now return to their home units and continue their efforts in providing a safe and stable Iraq.
