BAGHDAD, Iraq - During operations targeting terrorist leaders in northern Iraq, Coalition forces captured an alleged al-Qaeda in Iraq regional leader and seven additional suspects Sunday and Monday.

Sunday, two operations southwest of Kirkuk netted the alleged "amir" of the valley between Kirkuk and the Hamrin Mountains, along with his supposed associate. The terrorists are reportedly part of AQI suicide car-bombing operations and foreign terrorist facilitation. Coalition forces also detained four additional suspected terrorists in the operations.

Monday in Mosul, Coalition forces detained two suspects during an operation targeting an AQI leader who is suspected to have re-established himself as a terrorist after his release from prison in March.
