BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi Security Forces arrested five suspected vehicle-borne improvised explosive device network members today.
Credible intelligence led ISF, with U.S. Advisors, to a location west of Mosul to search for a suspected AQI VBIED-network leader.
The security team searched two buildings at the targeted location. During the search of one of the buildings, the security team encountered a suspected terrorist. The suspect became physically combative, threatening the safety and security of ISF and others in the area. Responding in self-defense when the suspect grabbed the weapon of one of the security officials, the aggressor was shot and killed.
Five other individuals were apprehended at this location, questioned, and subsequently identified as suspected members of the Mosul-based VBIED network. ISF arrested the five suspects.
