BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi Security Forces arrest 12 suspected terrorist during security operations in Mosul and Bayji Sept. 24.

The Mosul Brigade Federal Police arrested three suspects after intelligence reports led police to a location in Mosul frequented by a cell leader responsible for orchestrating the movement of foreign fighters into Iraq.

The suspects facilitated the movement of a foreign fighter into Iraq in April, who conducted a deadly suicide bomb attack killing five Coalition forces near an American military base.

The three were arrested without incident as the combined security team searched the targeted building.

In Bayji, the 3rd Brigade Salah ad Din Police Unit arrested nine suspects in a series of security operations throughout the city.

All nine suspects were located and arrested while conducting a search of several buildings known to be used by the Salah ad Din Ayubi Battalion.  This terrorist group has plotted attacks on the Bayji oil refinery, and is known to conduct assassinations in Salah ad Din Province.

U.S. forces assisted in their advisory capacity during both operations and continue working together with the Iraqi Security Forces to ensure that terrorists who threaten the security of Iraq are found and prosecuted under the Iraqi justice system.
