CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE ADDER, Iraq - A combined patrol led by Iraqi Security Forces was attacked by a roadside bomb in Amarah July 8.

The IED detonated near a U.S. vehicle from the 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, traveling as part of a convoy coordinated between Coalition Forces and Iraqi Police from Maysan province.  No Soldiers were injured.

"The attack in a densely populated civilian area on an Iraqi-led convoy is reprehensible," said Maj. Myles Caggins, spokesman for U.S. Army in Maysan province.  "Anyone with tips on who conducted this attack should contact the police station in Amarah."

The U.S. battalion, which is based in a rural area, is in Maysan to advise and assist Iraqi Security Forces.  These ongoing operations are conducted with Iraqi Security Forces in the lead in accordance with the U.S.-Iraq Security Agreement.
