1 in 88 Autism/ASD among Children of Military Families

In another sensational article, Ed Yazbak, of our scientific advisory
board and Ray Gallup, our co-founder are revealing that the prevalence of
autistic spectral disorders among children of active duty military personnel
in the
U.S. has reached an alarming 1 in 88 and that some 90% of these children are not getting ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis).
This
is unacceptable and we ask all activists and communities nationwide
-
regardless of their cause - for unity so as to help these unfortunate
and
forgotten children. It is the least we can do for our brave men and
women in uniform:

US Department of Education 2007-2008 Autism Statistics
The number of
children with Autism attending school has continued to
increase since 2002
when a CDC study revealed a prevalence of 1 in 150 among 8 year old
children. VAP has just obtained 2007-2008 figures for New Jersey and
Minnesota and compared them with figures for school year
2001-2002:
New Jersey up 111% among 3-5 yr-old and 150% among
6-21 yr-old
Minnesota up 197% among 3-5 yr-old and 202% among 6-21
yr-old
Complete data for 2007-2008 will be published on the VAP
web site in October
when the U.S. Department of Education Annual Report to
Congress is published:
