WASHINGTON, D.C. - Separate operations in Afghanistan resulted in the detention of two suspects.

A suspected Taliban militant was detained April 22 during an Afghan and coalition forces joint operation to disrupt militant roadside-bomb activities in the Jaberi district of Khowst province.

The combined forces searched several compounds in the district, targeting a Taliban militant known to have facilitated bomb attacks against Afghan government and coalition forces.

On April 21, Afghan National Security and coalition forces searched compounds in the Panjwayi district of Kandahar province and detained a suspected militant during an operation to disrupt Taliban operations.

The operation targeted a Taliban leader linked to militant financing operations, the recruiting of suicide bombers and bomb makers. The suspect also was suspected of attacks against coalition forces, Afghanistan government personnel and property. During their search, coalition forces also detained a suspected associate.
