KABUL, Afghanistan - Eleven Afghan National Policemen (ANP) were killed and one was wounded during a direct fire attack by insurgents on their patrol in Kandahar today.
Although there were no ISAF soldiers involved in this event, ISAF works closely with the ANP and shares the sorrow felt in their loss. ISAF remains steadfast in support for the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and in particular for our colleagues in the ANP.
"We strongly condemn this violent attack on the brave policemen who put their lives on the line in order to help create a better Afghanistan," said Brigadier General Carlos Branco, ISAF spokesperson. "Our deepest sympathies are with the families of those who were killed and injured in this attack."
