FALLS CHURCH, Va. - Top civilian medical providers in the TRICARE North Region have been recognized as valuable partners in meeting the needs of military families.

Steve Tough, president of Health Net Federal Services, LLC, the managed care support contractor for TRICARE's North Region, recently sent letters of appreciation to more than 100 civilian providers from its TRICARE network of 104,000.

The providers were selected by Health Net's Provider Network Management department based on patient volume, long-standing history of service to the military community and position as a key component to the integrity of Health Net's provider network.

"It is increasingly important that we recognize providers who accept TRICARE beneficiaries," said Army Maj. Gen. Elder Granger, Deputy Director of the TRICARE Management Activity.  "We actively seek and encourage new providers and many have responded, particularly when state leadership gets involved.  As a result we have seen major increases in the number of providers in many states."

Tough also sent letters of acknowledgement to the Governors of the North Region states in which the providers serve.  Virginia's Governor Tim Kaine responded by issuing certificates of thanks to Virginia Oncology Associates, Patient First, Sentara Healthcare and Lakeview Medical Center.

"Health Net Federal Services is very proud of its partnership with the civilian medical community and the work we do together to optimize the military health care system and extend its standards of quality health care," said Tough.

At a special ceremony, held on November 14th, Dr. David Frost, medical director and Rick Bloomquist, vice president of operations in the mid-Atlantic region from Health Net Federal Services joined Captain Peter O'Conner, Chief of Staff, Navy Medicine East, in honoring representatives of Virginia's providers.
