Blackanthem Military News, FORT DRUM, New York – Two Commando Brigade Soldiers were killed in Baghdad when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device March 31.
Staff Sgt. Jason R. Arnette and Spc. Wilfred Flores Jr., were assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment.
Flores was killed March 31 and Arnette died of wounds April 1.
Both Soldiers deployed to Iraq with their unit to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in August 2006.

Staff Sgt. Jason R. Arnette
Staff Sgt. Jason R. Arnette, 24, was an infantryman and trained at Fort Benning, Ga. His first assignment was with 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment at Camp Greaves, South Korea.
In November 2003, he was reassigned to 2-14 Inf., also known as the ‘Golden Dragon' battalion.
The Amelia, Va. native served in Iraq from December 2003 to March 2004 and them again from January 2005 to June 2005.
Arnette's military education includes the EMT/Paramedic Refresher Course, Warrior Leader Course, Combat Lifesaver Course and the Dragon Antitank Missile Trainer Course.
His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
He is survived by his wife and mother, both of Virginia.

Spc. Wilfred Flores Jr.
Spc. Wilfred Flores Jr., 20, served as an infantryman after completing basic and advanced individual training at Fort Benning.
Originally from Lawton, Okla., Flores joined the Army in June 2004. After initial training, he was assigned to 2nd BCT in November 2004.
His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
He is survived by his parents, both of Lawton, Okla.
