Blackanthem Military News BALAD, Iraq - Iraqi Security Forces captured two suspected terrorists and three suspected criminals in separate operations throughout central Iraq, Oct. 9-11.
On Oct. 11, al Hillah Special Weapons and Tactics arrested two suspected criminals in Hashimaiyah on Ministry of Interior warrants. The individuals are said to be responsible for conducting attacks against Iraqi and Coalition forces.
In another operation, al Hillah SWAT arrested two suspected al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists on MoI warrants in al Lakhsaf on Oct. 10. One of the individuals is said to be the leader of a cell that is responsible for murdering numerous civilians and conducting attacks against Iraqi and Coalition forces. SWAT detained one other individual during the operation.
Iraqi Special Operations Forces captured a suspected criminal leader on Oct. 9 in Shula who allegedly traveled to Iran in June 2008 and received training on conducting assassinations and improvised explosive device attacks. The criminal led ISOF to four other criminals, one of which is suspected of conducting vehicle-borne IED attack against Coalition forces earlier this year.
"This series of operations are directed toward thwarting criminal activities as the Government of Iraq demonstrates a determination to bring those operating outside the law to justice," said Lt. Col. Neil Harper, Multi-National Corps-Iraq spokesman.
