CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan -

 
Brig. Gen. Larry Nicholson, commanding general, Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan, walks toward his vehicle May 7 after arriving in southern Afghanistan. The brigade's arrival marked the newest edition to NATO's International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
 
Marines with the Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan wait to load buses May 3 in southern Afghanistan. The brigade plans to mentor Afghan National Security Forces during their deployment.
 
Marines and sailors with Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan arrive in southern Afghanistan May 7. Following their arrival, the Marines journeyed to Camp Leatherneck, their base of operations in Afghanistan.
 
Marines with the Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan arrive in southern Afghanistan May 3. The brigade will soon absorb Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Afghanistan, the current Marine unit operating in the region, and continue their counterinsurgency mission.
 
Marines with the Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan catch up on sleep May 3 during a flight to southern Afghanistan. The Marines hope to carry forward the successes of their predecessors currently serving in Afghanistan.

Thank you for the photos. I am so proud of all the brave men and women - thank you all. My grandson is a marine from Camp Lejeune and I check constantly for any news of our brave military. Our family misses him.
