Blackanthem Military News FORWARD OPERATING BASE FALCON, Iraq - Multi-National Division - Baghdad soldiers disposed of homemade explosives and improvised explosive devices Aug. 27 in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., soldiers assigned to Troop B, 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, discovered a pipe bomb, three homemade bombs made from fire extinguishers and an undisclosed amount of homemade explosives in an abandoned house in the Abu T'shir community of Rashid.
The soldiers contacted a Coalition forces explosives disposal unit, which confiscated the munitions. Upon further investigation, MND-B soldiers also discovered a can rigged with detonation cord.
"The soldiers of the 1st 'Raider' Brigade continue to conduct security operations to locate criminals and remove caches from the streets of Baghdad. Their ongoing efforts, working with Iraqi Security Forces, help reinforce the durable security in the Rashid district," said Maj. Dave Olson, the spokesman for the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B. "Thanks to the tireless efforts of both Iraqi Security and Coalition forces, Iraqi citizens continue to enjoy peace and prosperity throughout southern Baghdad."
