MND-B Soldiers detain suspected criminal, find 2 caches in Rashid

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers found two weapons caches and detained a suspected criminal July 2 in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, found a 107 mm rocket rigged as a roadside bomb in the Aamel community.  An explosive ordnance disposal team responded to handle the explosive device.
   
Soldiers from the 4th Infantry Regiment, attached to the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., found a rocket propelled grenade round and a 155 mm artillery round after receiving a tip from an Iraqi citizen at approximately 12:15 p.m. in the Jaza'ir community.  An EOD unit responded to recover the munitions.
   
At approximately 3:45 p.m., Soldiers from the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., detained a suspected criminal in the Hadar community.  The patrol returned with the suspect to a combat outpost for further questioning.
   
"The 1st Brigade Soldiers are working non-stop, 24 hours a day to halt the shadowy networks that support the criminals and their weapons," said Maj. Dave Olson, 1st BCT Spokesman, 4th Inf. Div.  "Our battalions assist the Iraqi Security Forces in providing a safe and secure environment for Rashid's 1.5 million people."
