BAGHDAD, Iraq - Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers detained two suspected criminals during combat operations Oct. 29 in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad.

At approximately 2 a.m. in the Jihad community, Soldiers from Company C, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, detained and transported a suspected criminal to a nearby combat out-post.  The suspect is allegedly responsible for indirect fire attacks, small-arms attacks, weapons trafficking and murder.

After receiving a tip from a local Iraqi citizen, Soldiers from Troop C, 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., detained a suspected criminal at approximately 3:45 a.m. in the Abu T’shir community.  The patrol seized 81mm mortar rounds, rocket propelled grenades and rifles from his vehicle.  The patrol returned with the detainee to a combat outpost to question him regarding his criminal activity.

"Capturing known criminals and seizing illegal weapons shows the commitment of the 1st ‘Raider’ Brigade to support the Iraqi Security Forces and provide a safe and secure environment for the Iraqi people," said Maj. Dave Olson, 1st BCT spokesman, 4th Inf. Div., MND-B. "The Iraqi Security Forces are leading security operations for their country while we provide minimal assistance and tactical over watch by teaching, coaching and mentoring them."
