BAGHDAD, Iraq - Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers, along with their Iraqi Security Forces partners and Iraqi citizens, confiscated multiple caches of improvised-explosive devices, bomb-making materials and weapons across Baghdad May 1.

At approximately 8:40 a.m. in southern Baghdad, Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, seized two Dragonov sniper rifles, an Explosively Formed Penetrator IED, and an MP-5 machine gun from the back of a vehicle.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, discovered a weapons cache west of Baghdad, hidden in a field that contained a bag of unknown explosives, two 122 mm mortar rounds, 120 rocket boosters, 544 anti-tank rounds, seven Russian made rockets of various sizes, 100 .50-caliber rounds, a box of miscellaneous IED-making materials, two command detonation wires, 100 blasting caps, detonation cord and four unknown rocket caps.

At approximately 8:45 a.m. April 30, MND-B Soldiers acted on tips from local citizens within the Rashid district of southern Baghdad and seized various weapons and munitions.

While conducting a combat patrol, Soldiers from Company A, 4th Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, attached to the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., were approached by a local citizen who informed them about a cache consisting of three rocket propelled grenades and a launcher.

Elsewhere in the Karb De Gla community, a local citizen approached the area's Joint Security Station to turn in a 60 mm mortar round he found.

Iraqi National Police from the 1st Battalion, 7th Brigade, 2nd National Police Division, working in the Abu T'shir community, reported finding a hand grenade.

"Thanks to the increasing efforts of Iraqi citizens, the Raider Brigade continues to find and destroy enemy munitions in efforts to provide a safe and secure environment," said Maj. Dave Olson, the spokesman for the 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div. "Soldiers of the 1st ‘Raider' Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, and Multi-National Division - Baghdad, remain committed to supporting the ISF in their fight against terrorism and the criminals who are targeting innocent Iraqis."
