Don't be alarmed if you see security boats or Bomb Squad vehicle

Blackanthem Military News
PORT TOWNSEND, Washington - Indian Island is conducting a force protection drill Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 26-27, designed to exercise installation capabilities in reporting, deterring, defending, and recovering from terrorist incidents with an in-port vessel.

The NAVMAG Indian Island Emergency Operations Center will be partnering with the Jefferson County Emergency Management Office and the Joint Harbor Operations Center in Seattle at various times during the exercise to execute standard notification procedures.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is providing law enforcement support as part of the overall response during the mock incident, according to U.S. Navy Public Affairs.

This exercise will include waterborne security drills, diving operations and a security drill in response to a simulated terrorist incident. During this exercise, security boats will perform tactical maneuvering drills using vessels haling equipment and security lights. Some of these activities will likely be visible to the public, the Navy reported Jan. 23.

A Navy explosive ordnance disposal team will respond in a vehicle is marked with the words "Bomb Squad," which may also attract public interest.

All radio communications with Jefferson County Emergency Management and Jefferson County Dispatch will be preceded by the words "Exercise, Exercise, Exercise" to avoid a real-world response during exercise scenarios.
