Blackanthem Military News
FORT HOOD, TX - Officials at Fort Hood have stood up a Media Operations Center to deal solely with requests for information and assistance related to the Nov. 5 mass casualty incident.

The Public Affairs staff at Fort Hood stated that monetary donations can be mailed to the chaplaincy on post. Chaplains' Funds are non-appropriated fund instrumentalities that provide supplemental support for religious practices and requirements. All donations linked to chaplain-sponsored activities must be accounted for through the Chaplains' Fund. The response to the crisis and people's willingness to help is gratefully appreciated, officials said.

Mail donations to:

Chaplains' Fund Office
Bldg 44, 761st Tank Battalion Ave.
Fort Hood, TX 76544-5000

Checks should be made payable to "CTOF" (Chapel's Tithes and Offerings Fund) with a note on the memo line stating "Nov. 5 Tragedy."

Gifts in kind can be mailed to Fort Hoods' Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation Directorate for receipt on behalf Soldiers and family members.

"Gifts" are defined by DoD's Standards for Ethical Conduct as anything having monetary value - such as money, gratuities, discounts, loans, transportation, local travel, lodging and meals. DoD and Army employees - to include Soldiers - may not accept gifts from prohibited sources or gifts given because of the employee's official position.  The local address for
these donations is:

DFMWR
Bldg. 194 at 37th St.
Fort Hood, TX  76544

Contact Susan Burns by phone at (254) 287-8106, or e-mail susan.burns@us.army.mil Visit DFMWR on the Web site at www.hoodmwr.com.

Contributions on behalf of Fort Hood Soldiers can also be made to the Fisher House. The program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by DoD and Veterans Affairs.

Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

Fisher House
Bldg 36015, Fisher Lane
Fort Hood, TX  76544

Contact Isaac Howard at (254) 286-7929, or e-mail Isaac.r.howard@us.army.mil. Visit a Fisher House online at http://www.fisherhouse.org.

Donations can be made to the Red Cross. The American Red Cross is a charitable organization - not a government agency - and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission. An average of 90 cents of every dollar the Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs.

208 West Ave. A,
Killeen, Texas 76541

Phone the Red Cross at (254) 200-4400 or visit their Web site: www.waco.redcross.org

Donations can also be made to the United Service Organizations. Since World War II, the USO has been a steadfast supporter of military personnel around the world. While times have changed, the USO mission has remained the same: to boost the morale of service members and serve as the link between them and the American people.

Today the USO delivers its programs and services to 1.4 million active duty service members and 1.2 million National Guard and Reserves as well as their families at more than 130 centers located worldwide.

And finally, people can donate to the Assn. of the U.S. Army. Since 1950, the AUSA has worked to support all aspects of national security while advancing the interests of America's Army and the men and women who serve.

AUSA is a private, non-profit educational organization that supports America's Army - Active, National Guard, Reserve, civilians, retirees and family members. AUSA provides numerous professional development opportunities at a variety of events both local and national. Mail your donations to:

Central Texas-Fort Hood AUSA Chapter
P.O. Box 10700
Killeen, TX  76547-0700

Or donate online at the chapter's Web site: www.forthoodausa.org
