Blackanthem Military News, BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq  -- An Airman assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron here is used to building things as a member of the "Dirt Boyz," a group of heavy equipment operators. Now he's preparing to follow life's blueprint as he and his wife Alishia count the days until the birth of their first child. Together they plan to build a lifetime of memories.

Nineteen-year-old Airman 1st Class Michael Jamesson deployed here in November 2006 from Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., where he serves with the 341st Civil Engineer Squadron. When he deployed to Iraq, Alishia went back to Pasadena, Md., where both their parents live, to be near family during her pregnancy.

"I feel really bad she's home going through this without me, but it's comforting to know both our families are there taking care of her," Airman Jamesson said. The couple chose Benjamin Michael for their son's name, and he's due March 13.

Recent efforts by Alishia and the 316th Wing Public Affairs office at Andrews AFB, Md., brought the Airman a little closer to home through a 3-D ultrasound imaging of Benjamin. They sent the DVD of the ultrasound and hardcopy pictures here for him to see, and the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs office here arranged a viewing for Airman Jamesson.

The Airman was pretty much at a loss for words as the video played, but his smiling face and the tears in his eyes said all he couldn't.

"The video really hit home..." he said, "it was a total surprise. Being here...it's hard to put it into words...but it's taught me a lot more patience. I've learned how to worry about more than just myself now."

Airman Jamesson is scheduled to leave Iraq and return home in early May to rejoin Alishia and meet Benjamin.

"To everyone back home, I miss you all, especially you, Alishia and Benjamin," he said. "I can't wait to get home!"
