NEWBURGH, NY - Seventy New York Army National Guard Soldiers of the 27th Brigade Combat Team arrived back in New York at Stewart International Airport in time to spend New Year's Eve with their families after 10 months in Afghanistan.
The Soldiers arrived at the Hudson Valley airport after out processing at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. They arrived back in the United States on Christmas Day.
The Soldiers who landed at Stewart returned to home armories in Albany, New York City and Newburgh .
More than 200 Soldiers returned to New York on New Years Eve, landing in Buffalo and Syracuse, as well as Newburgh, and returning to armories in Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.
While in Afghanistan the members of the 27th Brigade Combat Team were responsible for training and equipping the Afghan National Army and Police.
