COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - More than 100 Colorado Army National Guard Soldiers reported for their first day of mobilization training in Colorado Springs Feb. 9, 2009.
The Colorado Springs Amory, home to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery and Battery C of 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery, began the day with a formation that announced the merger of the two batteries and a new battery commander.
HHB absorbed Battery C - joining to become one primary unit known among some troops as "CHHB" (pronounced "chub") but, officially as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery.
HHB Battery Commander Capt. Jeff Craver handed over command to Capt. Ashkan Angha, who will lead the HHB Soldiers throughout the mobilization and deployment to Iraq.
Battalion Commander Lt. Col. AL Morris, also in attendance, handed out certificates of achievement and an Army Commendation Medal during first formation.
After the leadership briefed the troops about the upcoming training, the Soldiers prepared their gear for transportation to Fort Carson, which will be their home during much of the training.
The HHB Soldiers will conduct a large majority of their required training in Colorado Springs until mid-April when they depart to their mobilization station at Fort Hood, Texas.
The battalion, which has batteries in Pueblo and Aurora and a Forward Support Company in La Junta, is scheduled for a 12-month mobilization in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom later this year.

CAPT Anga:
My former spouse, SGT James L. Beck has not done what he can to ensure
coverage of Ian Christian Beck with TRICARE insurance. When I tried to get
Ian an ID they said his father was required to sign him up for it and he
hasn't. Will you please ask him to do this for Ian? I don't know if he
now has new kids he has to support, but at least he can do the Tricare for
nothing if he has any decency.
